In Case of Emergency

In Case of Emergency

ICE information that is good to have when you ride.

The nature of Motorcycle riding in dangerous.  We should be prepared for something bad to happen.  We do as much as we can with using protective gear, practicing, and having a properly maintained motorcycle, but accidents still happen.  It is a good thing to have a way for first responders or hospital staff to get information if you are unable to answer questions.

We have all seen the card that you are to carry that has you in case of emergency information.  But how easy is that to find?  Is it lost in the stack of cards in your wallet?   If you want to use these cards, I recommend you put it behind your Driver’s license because is one of the first things they will be looking for.

You can also put the information in your phone.  There are “ICE” apps that has your information and can be accessed even if your phone is locked.  The problem with the phone is it may be damaged or lost in the accident.  So don’t rely on that alone.

There are some helmet tags that you can use that enter your information and it is attached to your helmet’s chin strap. This is only useful if you wear a helmet.

You can now get medical information bracelets that are USB connections.  Those may help the hospital but not the first responders – most don’t have or won’t take the time to plug something into a computer even if they have a computer with them.

Dog Tags can be ordered with whatever information want and can be worn around your neck.   First responders check for things like that.   You just have to remember to wear them and keep them updated.

Medical Alert jewelry has been around a long time.  First responders look for it and it gives critical medical information.

Whatever way you keep your “ICE” information it is very important that you keep it updated.
