SportBike Chic Protective Jeans

Today I want to talk about Motorcycle riding Jeans.  Over the years I have done articles on the importance of wearing the correct pants when riding a motorcycle. I have talked about the different types of jeans and the pros and cons.  I have always been upfront that some of the products I have talked about I have not had the chance to try myself, but I have done lots of research. One of the reasons I have not tried Motorcycle riding jeans is I am short at only 5’2 and I am, let’s just say a husky girl.   For a woman of my size finding regular jeans that fit let alone riding jeans can be a challenge.  Another reason is most riding jeans that may work for me have to be ordered on-line and that is not always the best when it comes to getting the correct sizing. Well, this summer I was doing more research to try to find a pair of riding jeans after I ended up with a pretty bad burn to my leg riding back to Illinois from Alabama.   I found an article that had some of the best gear for plus size women riders.  In this article it talked about these Jeans from SportBike Chic that were very high on their list.  So, I went to the website and started to look what they had to offer. What I found they have Protective Jeans in Petite, Regular, and Tall.  They have them in Blue, Black, Faded Black and Camouflage.    After reading info on the website, I decided to give them a try. According to their sizing information you should order the same size that you ware in your normal everyday jeans.  I was a bit skeptical of this, I mean these jeans have armor, nomex, and Kevlar so I was sure I would need to go up a size or two, but I followed their directions knowing that if they did not fit, I could always exchange them.  I ordered the size I normally wear in Jeans in Blue and hoped for the best. It took about a week for them to arrive.   They arrived and I was very impressed.  They were just like the pictures on the website.   They have Kevlar lining in most of the upper leg, but and crotch areas.  They have armor pads in the hips and knees.   The knee pads can be adjusted so the pads are where you want them.   They are heavy duty and are heavier than normal jeans but not horrible. I tried them on and was very surprised.  They Fit!!!  I mean they fit just like my regular jeans.  They are a cotton w/Spandex, so they stretch in areas you need them to.   I also bought the regular length jeans because in normal Jeans I do that.   The way I am built even though I am short petite jeans don’t fit right so I always just by the regular length.     Once I had them on they really didn’t feel that heavy.   They were very comfortable.  I had to adjust the knee pads a little but that was very easy to do.  They have Velcro strips to hold the knee pads where you need them.   The jeans also have what they call rear rouching or lip of material at the back that will prevent unintended exposure while riding. I wore them for a full day around the house and they were comfortable, and I had no issues.  They have large pockets and even with the armor I had full mobility.   Then a couple weekends ago I decided to wear them on a day ride I was going on. The morning started off a little cool in the low 70’s.  I was comfortable even felt a bit cool on my lower legs where there is no Kevlar.    As the day went on, we rode down the Illinois River Road and were on and off the bikes a few times at the ferry crossings and we stopped for bathroom and hydration.   The Temperatures were rising and it was in the mid 90’s by mid-day.  I was still comfortable in these jeans. In fact, the longer the day went the more comfortable they seem to get.   I was a bit concerned about going to the bathroom because we all know in 90-degree heat jeans can be a pain to get back up in the bathroom, but I had no issue with these.  I think the Kevlar helps the jeans not stick to you as bad. By the end of the day, I was so happy with these jeans. Another thing was the people I was riding with couldn’t tell the jeans were armored unless I told them. The next test was taking the armor out so I could wash the jeans.   I was surprised but the armor was very easy to remove and after the jeans were washed and dried, the armor went back in without issues.  I luckily was not able to test out the armor or how they withstand a crash, but I am still impressed. The jeans are a bit pricey at $159.99 a pair but I know some women buy designer jeans that they spend more on.   I would recommend these jeans.  They are offered in sizes 6 to 24 and in Petite, Regular and Tall lengths.   They are currently out of the Black jeans but when they get them back in stock I will be getting a pair.  https://www.sportbikechic.com/collections/jeans
